KICKIN' THE WEEKEND
OFF AT SUMMERFEST
06.27.2009
Well, the weekend got off to a great start at Summerfest in Milwaukee! The festival was awesome!
I headed to the bus around 9pm on Thursday night and rode with the audio guys this time. We hung out for a bit, watched Madea Goes To Jail, and then I hit my bunk. Next thing I know, I'm in Milwaukee. After lunch I strolled around the amphitheater for a bit. I walked up all the stairs to the lawn section and saw the coolest view of Lake Michigan. There was even a light house...I love light houses! The sky was clear, the water was blue, there were boats racing across the water...it was pretty cool.
I went out to the front of house to watch Keith perform "Til Summer Comes Around" during soundcheck. The crew took a quick break for dinner and then it was time for the Meet & Greet to start. It was so HOT in the room...the little wall AC unti was not doing the trick. :) After Keith finished the Meet & Greet, it was time for the first act to hit the stage...The Counting Crows! I was able to catch a few of their tunes, they were pretty cool. The crowd was pretty into the show.
Keith hit the stage around 9pm and the crowd went wild! He opened with "Hit The Ground Runnin'" and played hit after hit. My favorite part of the show was when Keith hopped out in to the crowd and started walking up the stairs to the B stage. I was standing there by the B stage and was watching the fans. I loved the look on their faces when they realized that Keith is going to be standing and performing right by them. Priceless.
As usual, the show went great. This was the first time I've been to an amphitheater show with Keith and I loved it. Don't get me wrong, I love the arena shows but there is some kind of cool summer vibe playing amphitheaters.
We are now in Des Moines, IA and getting ready to start filming some of the video for "Only You Can Love Me This Way". I can't wait to hear the crowd singing it tonight during the video shoot. I'll keep you updated! Talk soon!
